Youthful Insights: Aspirations and entering the world of work
At We. Communications (formerly Hopscotch) we know the importance of brands addressing issues that matter to young people. They are the future workforce, customers and leaders, and what they care about has to influence how organisations define their business drivers and social impact ambitions.
With a growing government focus on skills development in the United Kingdom, learning how to best support young people to find what career is right for them, the opportunities available, and how to prepare to enter the world of work is as important as ever.
We once again partnered with Youth Leads UK and sat down with our Youth Insight Panel, a curated selection of young people with a wide range of ages and backgrounds from across the UK, to gather their insights, understanding and opinions on the working world. In this issue, we look at the journey young people go on as they begin to consider their career aspirations, reflect on the support they’ve received, the opportunities available and what they believe is still needed from schools, organisations, and more.
Key topical questions include:
· How career dreams have changed as young people grow up and move through school and what subject/other influences impacted those changes
· Opinions on usefulness and accessibility of career support within school
· Barriers young people face when joining the workforce
· What support is required from government bodies, charities, school and youth groups for young people to start their careers
